Authors of Dharma mangal are many but nothing is known about who the first poet is. Many say that Mayurbhatta is the first poet. Poet Ghanaram writes `I shall sing the praise of Mayurbhatta, the first poet of Dharma mangal'.His epic is known as `Hakanda Puran' or `Sri Dharma Puran'.' Many believe that Mayurbhatta was the courtpoet of Dharmasen, the grandson of Lausen. His epic is written in Sanskrit, but the said manuscript was not found.
